The premier European Cycling Tourism Conference will take place in the Catalonian capital on the itinerary of EuroVelo 8 – Mediterranean Route.
From 5th to 10th October, the bicycle will take centre stage in Barcelona. For the first time, the same city will simultaneously host three conferences about cycling: the EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference, the XVIII Iberian Congress Bicycle and the City and the 7th International Bicycle Conference. All three events will include exhibition spaces, meetings between professionals, technical visits and a wide range of activities. All the information is available on the website CICLOBCN21.
The EuroVelo and Cycle Tourism Conference (5-7 October) will be an in-person event and all necessary security measures will be guaranteed in accordance with the evolution of the pandemic and the COVID-19 protocols to be fixed at the time. An online platform will also be provided for those who wish to follow the three congresses virtually. The programme of the conference is available here, further programme details and information on speakers will follow.

The EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference in Barcelona
The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) has joined forces with a committee formed by the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area and the Federation of Bicycle Users of Catalonia (FEMBici) to organise the fifth edition of the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference. The EuroVelo Conference gathers professionals from the tourism and cycle tourism sectors from all around the world to discuss this growing market that employs over 500,000 Europeans and generates an economic impact of over 44 billion euros to the European economy every year.
While the original plans were to organise the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference in 2020, the COVID-19 crisis resulted in a postponement by twelve months to guarantee the safety of the event. The conference will now take place as a physical event from the 5th to the 7th October 2021, with the possibility to follow it virtually for those who can't attend in-person.
Previous editions of the Conference took place in Belgian Limburg (2018), Vienna (2016), Basel (2014) and Nantes (2012). In 2020, ECF selected Barcelona from 10 candidate European cities and regions to host the EuroVelo and Cycling Tourism Conference 2021.
